February is Pet Dental Health Month

All Pets Smiling Veterinary Care is a brand-new, fully-equipped Mobile Clinic, primarily located in Bend, Oregon, specializing in small animal health care.  We cover all of Central Oregon by coming to your doorstep, or stopping nearby, to support and maintain your pet's health, wellness, and happiness.

"Sparky," the APS Van
Please let me introduce myself.  I'm Dr. Deborah Hodesson, a 1979 Davis, CA, graduate, with 30+ years of hands-on small pet care. The All Pets Smiling Mobile Veterinary Care unit is a brand-new venture.  Sometimes it seems a little scary to have started a new business in today's economy.  But I'm certain of my experience and technical skills, and so appreciative of the love folks have for their small pets, that it feels mostly like a very worthwhile and satisfying endeavor.

I'm so proud of The All Pets Smiling Mobile Van.  It's equipped to perform general examinations and all supporting services: x-rays, surgeries, dental care, maintenance shots, wound treatments. The van contains a surgical suite, X-ray machine, and sterilizing unit. It also has a fully-equipped dental unit.
A Healthy Patient
Routinely, All Pets Smiling will service Bend, Redmond, Prineville, Madras, LaPine, and Christmas Valley. Additional area coverages are available by phoning or emailing to make special arrangements.

Before moving to Bend, I owned a veterinary hospital and an in-home care service (in California).  I've been living in Bend for five years, and until recently, worked in a brick-and-mortar clinic setting.  I'm an avid athlete who enjoys biking, running, and most of all swimming.

One of my key interests is pet dental health.  I'm the only veterinarian in Central Oregon who performs advanced dentistry, such as root canals and periodontal surgery.  I volunteer annually with the Peter Emily International Veterinary Dental Foundation, participating with a non-profit team to perform routine and advanced dental care on captive wild animals.  I'm very interested in advanced dental surgery and working to become a board-certified veterinary dentist.  I'm currently in a dental residency program that will take six or seven years to complete.  Meanwhile, I am highly qualified to take care of your pet's dental needs.

February is Pet Dental Health Month.  My next blog will discuss the importance of dental health to your pet's overall well-being.  I'll explain some of the processes we employ to keep All (your) Pets Smiling!

As this blog develops, I'll be sharing interesting experiences, unusual cases, animal health discoveries, and for sure, our progress in evolving All Pets Smiling Veterinary Care into a Central Oregon staple.

Please feel free to post here, in response to my blogs, with your own observations, questions, and insights.  I love hearing from folks and receiving feedback.  Everything you say will help All Pets Smiling do "the right" job for Central Oregon.

  2. Hi all,

A quick look in your pet’s mouth will quickly reveal how effective tooth brushing is in keeping tartar under control. Your veterinarian can recommend special food and products to keep teeth healthy and also choose the right time for a full dental cleaning. Thanks!
